Gospel Musings

The other day on twitter I fired off several tweets expressing some convictions I have regarding the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.  I thought I would post them on my blog so, with a couple minor changes, here they are:

  • My belief in the crucifixion of Jesus means I must put away selfishness and carry my cross with Jesus into self-sacrificial service.
  • My belief in the resurrection of Jesus means I must abandon apathy, believing even when things appear dead that there is still hope.
  • My belief in the crucifixion and resurrection keeps me from cowering to the prophets of doom and gloom in our day and time.
  • My belief in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus keeps me from trying to write my own story script for life today and life to come.
  • My belief in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus frees me from relying on Egypt’s horses and chariots (which are an illusion of hope).
  • My belief in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus says that I’m not called to escape the suffering world but called into it as loving witness.

What sort of musings come to your mind when you contemplate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus?
